No new reserves expected to be added to Shtokman field
Gazprom has completed the exploration of the Shtokman field and will not resume geological mapping in the course of
the first production phase, a company representative confirms.
Valerii Yunin, Deputy Head of Gazprom's geological exploration department, says he does not expect additional
resources to be added to the field's reserves in 2008. At the same time, he does not exclude that new exact resource
estimates might be made as production drilling starts. Official reserves in the Shtokman field now stand at 3,8 tcm.
The statement from Mr Yunin comes as the Dutch company Fugro is engaged in a contract with Shtokman Development
Company to do test drillings around the field. Fugro's Shtokman operation will last for three months with the
Norwegian border town of Kirkenes functioning as base.
The Gazprom company representative also underlines that Gazprom in 2008 will record new reserves no lower than this
year's production figures.
The Shtokman field is located about 550 km north of the Kola Peninsula.
Official production start is due in 2013.
