Gazkomplektimpex and Siirtec Nigi sign contract within Nord Stream project
Igor Fyodorov, Member of the Gazprom Management Committee, Director General of Gazkomplektimpex and Adalberto
Bestetti, President of Siirtec Nigi signed an engineering and construction contract for a gas treatment unit (GTU).
The unit is to be installed at the Portovaya compressor station (CS) of the Nord Stream gas trunkline.
The GTU construction project is a unique solution as it stipulates creating a unit having nowadays no world analogues
by its performance rates. The unit is intended for dehydration of 170 mm cm of natural gas per day. This 3.6 times
exceeds the capacity of the GTU at the Krasnodarskaya CS of the Blue Stream gas pipeline running across the Black Sea
bottom from Russia to Turkey.
Pursuant to the contract, Siirtec Nigi will carry out the engineering, supervised installation and commissioning of
the GTU as well as will ensure the supply of required equipment and materials. The first stage of the unit is
projected to be installed in December 2010, the second in December 2011.
Taking part in the open competition for the GTU were several international and domestic equipment suppliers. The
competitive bid from Siirtec Nigi was chosen as it was best matched to the customer demands in terms of comprehensive
engineering, pricing conditions, and the guarantees of timely and high-quality implementation of the project.
Background:
The Nord Stream gas pipeline is a fundamentally new route for Russian gas exports to Europe. The gas pipeline will
run across the Baltic Sea from the Portovaya Bay (in the vicinity of Vyborg) to the German coast (in the vicinity of
Greifswald). The gas pipeline length will be some 1,200 km.
Located at the Russian coast of the Baltic Sea in the Portovaya Bay, the Portovaya CS will be a unique gas
transmission facility with capacity (354 MW) unparalleled in Russia. Advanced equipment and modern technologies will
be used for its construction.
