AGRA officially changes its name to AMEC
AGRA has officially changed its name to AMEC and has adopted a new AMEC global brand identity. The change follows
AGRA's merger with AMEC, completed on April 20, 2000. AMEC is a global capital projects, services and investments
company headquartered in the United Kingdom.
The combination of AGRA, AMEC and AMEC's 41.6 % investment in SPIE of France has created a global industry player -
with 50,000 people in more than 40 countries and significant operations in key respective home markets of North
America, the UK and France.
AMEC, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, becomes the operational centre for AMEC in North and South America. As North
American leader in professional engineering, environmental, construction and technology services, AMEC is led by Mr.
Peter Janson, (formerly President & CEO of AGRA). AMEC p.l.c. has also announced that former AGRA director
Margaret Hesse has been appointed as a non-executive Director of the Board.
Ms. Hesse is President and Founder of Hesse Gas Company and Former Chairman of the US Federal Energy Regulation
Commission - the first woman to hold that position. Mr. Peter Janson is also an executive member of the AMEC p.l.c.
Board.
AMEC's operating subsidiaries and related North American companies, including AGRA Earth and Environmental, AGRA
Monenco, AGRA Simons and Morse Diesel will continue to operate under their current names until January 2001 when they
will adopt the AMEC identity.
Much more than simply a new look, the new global AMEC identity represents a new company focused on "unlocking value"
for customers world-wide. A key component of the new identity, the AMEC 'touchstone' reflects a standard or criterion
by which something is judged or recognised. Its design expresses openness and clarity of purpose.
Unveiling the new identity in London, England, AMEC CEO Peter Mason said, "AMEC is a now cohesive, global force,
which meets the demands of customers and maximises the return to its shareholders. We are confident that our new
identity will be associated with the delivery of value in a dynamic business world. It is a confident statement of
future intent. We now move forward as one company, with one vision."
AMEC builds long term relationships and strategic partnerships with clients founded on mutual trust and cooperation;
the company listens and learns from its clients. AMEC is investing in new technology with the aim of being industry
leader in the use of web-enabled capability and e-commerce. AMEC focuses its skills on a targeted group of industry
areas and harnesses the talents of its people on the delivery of world-class professional services to all
clients.
AMEC's vision is to be the leading provider of engineering and service solutions for the world's manufacturing,
infrastructure and process industries. This is underpinned by the company's philosophy of providing total life of
asset support to its clients through the use of innovative and experienced multidisciplinary project teams. The
company is committed to delivering business solutions and unlocking value for clients through innovation and
operational excellence.
