Second power line between Bulgaria and Turkey to be completed soon
The second electric power line between Bulgarian and Turkey will be completed in May, Energy Minister Milko Kovachev announced on 1 May upon returning from his visit to Turkey. In Turkey Minister Kovachev met Turkish Energy Minister Zeki Cakan and Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, with whom he discussed mainly issues related to developing the electric power and gas transport systems.
This is what the Bulgarian energy minister said at Sofia Airport: "BOTAS and Bulgargaz will work for the creation of
a working group by mid-2002. the working group will study the possibility of transiting gas from Turkey through
Bulgaria. I think that this working group could produce interesting proposals."
Turkey will implement its commitments and will continue to import electric power from Bulgaria, Milko Kovachev also
said.
