Turkey participates in GUAM energy project
The Transcaucasian Economic Grouping of countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova), put forth an initiative
for the execution of a joint project to strengthen the region’s energy security, in which Turkey has been asked
to participate.
The project, called “Transdanubian Energy Bridge,” was introduced by the Head of the Ukrainian National
Security and Defence Council, Anatoly Kinakh, during the joint sitting of the security heads of GUAM held in Kiev.
The draft project prepared by relevant Ukrainian institutions, is one among the prominent global projects and entails
the security of the entire European continent on creating appropriate conditions for energy security, among which
falls also the transportation of Caspian oil through the European transport corridors.
Transdanubian countries (such as Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey), that have common energy interests in the
region are expected to contribute, as is the Black Sea Development Bank.
