Centrica to supply gas to the Netherlands
Centrica, the supply company demerged from British Gas earlier this year, has agreed a number of further contracts
for gas deliveries to the Netherlands through the Interconnector gas pipeline.
Under the agreements Centrica, through its subsidiary, British Gas Trading, will sell about 700 mm cmpy to Dutch
multi-utilities EnTrade - a trading joint venture between PNEM and MEGA - and Delta, over a period of 8 years.
Deliveries are expected to begin in Oct. 1998, when the UK-Continent gas pipeline is due to become operational, and
will be drawn from Centrica's portfolio of UK Continental Shelf reserves and gas purchase contracts.
Centrica said that in order to make these sales, British Gas Trading would make use of its contractual rights to
transportation capacity in the Interconnector, including capacity recently obtained via an assignment from National
Power.
The Dutch utilities intend to resell the gas purchased from Centrica to large consumers in their respective supply
areas.
