Polish and German gas operators sign cooperation deal
Poland's gas pipeline operator Gaz System and its German counterpart Ontras VNG signed a cooperation deal aimed at increasing gas transport capacities between Germany and Poland, Gaz System said.
The deal will pave a way to increase capacity to 1.5 bn cm annually from 1 bn cm at an interconnector between Poland and Germany in Lasow.
Poland imports two thirds of its 14 bn cm annual natural gas consumption from Russia and lacks gas links with its other neighbours that would allow to better diversify imports.
In order to remedy the situation Gaz System plans to increase capacities with Germany and the Czech Republic, and considers building new links with Slovakia and Lithuania.
