Torishima starts sales of German wind power
Japan's Torishima Pump Manufacturing Company has begun selling electricity generated in Germany through the use of
wind power, company sources said. Three wind power generation facilities with a combined output of 1,500 kW were
recently completed, with the electricity they produce being sold to local power companies.
Japanese trading houses, including Tomen, are engaged in similar projects abroad in partnership with local equipment
manufacturers. However, Torishima's project is said to be the first of its kind involving a Japanese generator maker.
The facilities were set up northwest of Duesseldorf in the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen.
The project cost a total of 900 mm yen ($ 7.5 m) and can supply enough electricity to meet the annual needs of 3,000
households. Sales are projected at some 100 mm yen.
