Norwegian energy major StatoilHydro confirms that it will invest billions in a train two at the Melkoya LNG plant on the Barents Sea coast. Concrete plans will be ready in 2010, company representative Knut-Erik Dalland says.
Director of StatoilHydro's Melkoya unit, Knut-Erik Dalland, says that his company is determined to invest in an extension of the Melkoya plant.

"It is not a question whether a further development will take place or not, but when it will happen," the company representative said.
"We have enough resources for a train two at Melkoya," he stressed. "In 2010, after having conducted studies, we will have more concrete plans," he adds.

Over the last couple of years, StatoilHydro has made several unsuccessful exploration drilling operations in the Barents Sea. The company still remains determined to continue its high focus on the area.
The Melkoya LNG plant, located outside Hammerfest on the Barents Sea coast, is the northernmost plant of its kind. It serves the Snoehvit field, the first hydrocarbon field in production in the Barents Sea.
