Gensym signs world-wide agreement with Saudi Aramco

Dec 19, 1996 01:00 AM

Gensym Corp. a leading provider of software for creating intelligent systems has signed a world-wide corporate agreement with Saudi Aramco. Saudi Aramco is planning to use Gensym's G2 family of software in a variety of intelligent process management applications across its many operations. At its Ras Tanura Refinery and Abqaiq Plants, Aramco is integrating G2 with an existing refinery data model, Oil Systems PI, and other information management applications. They intend to use G2 to diagnose process upsets and provide operators relief from alarm flooding during crisis situations. As part of an enterprise-wide plant upgrade, Saudi Aramco gas plant engineers in Uthmanyah and Shedgum plan to develop G2 applications that will help operators meet production objectives while optimising fuel consumption. G2 allows plant engineers to implement intelligent systems based on their process expertise. Without knowing traditional programming, they can create applications that can distribute their knowledge and help process operators run the plant more effectively.
