The first phase of a project for the collection of associated gases from Bangestan oil field has thus far shown a progress of 89 % and will become operational in the first half of the next Iranian year of 1383 (to start on March 20).
An official in charge of the project Mohammad Bijanifar told that all necessary installations including gas pressure station, dehumidisation and pipelines for transfer of gas will be put into operation in the first phase. He said the goal of the project is to prevent the burning of about 6.82 mm cm of associated sour gases in Bangestan oil field.

He said the sour gases will be transferred to a sweetening refinery to be separated into gas and liquefied gases and then undergo necessary refining operations.
The refinery is scheduled to yield 5 mm cm of gas, 28,000 barrels of sweet liquid gas, and 0.51 mm cm of acid gases a day, said the official. Bijanifar said the refinery is expected to earn more than $ 210 mm a year.
