Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegaz sells its jackups in Persian Gulf
Starting in April, Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegaz (RN-SMNG) company no longer has any jack-up rigs for offshore drilling
left.
The company said that its four oil rigs that used to operate in the Persian Gulf had been sold because the Russian
taxation law made their operation unprofitable.
Under the existing law, every two years the Sakhalin company's oil rigs had to be taken from the Middle East to the
Far East for inspection by the taxation authorities.
RN-SMNG intends to use the money raised from the sale of its oil rigs to order new and more advanced jack-up rigs for
carrying out Sakhalin offshore exploration contracts.
