Oman to develop its part of Hinjam gas field

Nassir bin Khamis al Ghashmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, said that the Sultanate of Oman will work on developing its part of the Hinjam field which is co-owned with the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting that the first exploratory well will be drilled this July.
He said that an MoU was signed with the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE. The MoU states that the Emirate will buy the gas produced at from Hinjam field. He added that the field anticipated reserves are around 1 tcf of gas, saying the production quantity will be determined after drilling the first exploratory well.

Al Ghashmi noted that Australia's Nuvos Company, which is currently exploring at the Bukha area in the governorate of Musandam, will implement the project.
He noted that there were ongoing talks with the Iranian side to develop the joint field between the two countries to make it economically viable in the interest of the two countries.
