Iran has 123 drilling rigs in operation

Iran possesses 123 drilling rigs across its offshore and onshore oilfields, according to an official with the National Iranian Oil Company.
Abdolmohammad Delparish said that 98 rigs are currently in operation on Iran's onshore fields and 25 on its offshore fields, 24 in the Persian Gulf and one in the Caspian Sea.

Iran plans to increase the number of rigs operating on oilfields by 36 units to hit 134 units by March 2014, National Iranian Oil Company Managing Director Ahmad Qalebani announced in February.
Currently, Iran’s in-place oil reserves are estimated at 560 bn barrels, of which 140 bn barrels are recoverable, including 70 bn barrels of heavy and extra heavy crudes.
