Pars Company signs power plant contract with MAPNA
A contract for building a 1,000-MW power plant at South Pars region was signed on August 21, between managing
directors of Pars Oil and Gas Company and MAPNA companies in the presence of managing director of National Iranian
Oil Company.
During the contract signing ceremony, director of engineering at Pars Oil and Gas Company noted that MAPNA has been
chosen out of seven companies as winner of the relevant tender bid, adding, “The power plant will supply
electricity to refineries of phase 9, 10-15, 16-17, as well as 19-21 of South Pars gas field.”
Hossein Najafi Sani noted that the plant will be built as EPC (engineering, procurement, commissioning) which will
include construction and installation of six gas-powered turbines with approximate capacity of 150-170 MW up to a
total nominal capacity of 1,000 MW.
The official noted that the time periods for implantation of the project since its becomes operational up to
commissioning the first and last units have been estimated at 18 months and 24 months, respectively.
He added that minimum participation of domestic contractors has been projected at 51 % and according to MAPNA’s
appraisal, 85 % of the project can be implemented inside the country.
“The contract is worth EUR 262 mm and National Iranian Oil Company will fund the project,” he said.
Managing director of MAPNA Company also stated that despite the fact that implementing the project in 24 months is
difficult, but MAPNA will do its best to do the job on time.
Mousa Refan stated that all needed equipment including generators, turbines, control systems and transformers will be
produced in Iran.
