Wind power plant joins Iranian electricity network
The first phase power generators of the biggest wind power plant in the country joined Iran’s electricity
network in Binalood in the north-eastern province.
Deputy for the local electricity company, Mohammad Hassan Mottavallizadeh, said that the first phase of he project is
made up of five wind towers with an annual energy output of 124,000 MWh. He added that this energy output would spare
gas consumption by 41 mm cmpy.
The plant is reportedly installed in a wind tunnel of 50 km in length and 5 km in width through which wind steadily
flows at a mild velocity of 8.9 meters per second. The official said the wind power is environment friendly and is
known as the cheapest source of energy generation.
