Iran's petrochemical production hits 22 mm tons
Domestic petrochemical complexes totally produced over 22.693 tons of petrochemicals in the period from March 21 to
December 27, 2009.
Mahshahr Petrochemical Complex was the biggest producer with some 10.906 mm tons of output.
National Petrochemical Company (NPC) eyes reaching production volumes of 38.9 mm tons by the end of the current
Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2010). Some 15.5 mm tons of the produced petrochemicals are projected to be exported
and nearly 12.5 mm tons to be supplied to the domestic market.
By the end of the current (Iranian) year, 11 petrochemical projects are planned to come on stream which would add a
total of 8.8 mm tons to the country's annual petrochemical production capacity.
The projects will be launched at an estimated cost of $ 5.1 bn.
