Secondary oil recovery to rise Iranian reserves

A senior oil official says delivery of natural gas to onshore and offshore oil fields would bring their secondary recovery from 22 to 24 bn barrels.
Eskandar Bavarian, deputy head of the National Iranian Oil Company, told the secondary recovery would rise with a daily injection of 300-310 mm cm of natural gas into oil reserves.
“This amount of natural gas is considered for all onshore and two offshore oil fields for about 30 years,” he said.

The official stated that gas injection into Aghajari Oil Field can bring its production from 170,000 to 300,000 bpd. He said North Pars Gas Field can produce 120 mm cmpd of natural gas, adding that Golshan and Ferdows gas fields have to undergo development.
Bavarian said certain undeveloped gas fields contained sour gas, noting they have to attract more investments.
