The Malaysian oil company Petronas Carigali is to begin drilling for oil in the Fashat Al Adhem and southern and eastern regions of Bahrain's territorial waters before the end of the year, Bahrain's Oil Ministry said.
Survey reports from the Bahrain Centre for Studies and Research, Works Ministry, Fisheries Directorate and other concerned bodies, will be completed before the drilling starts.

The announcement was made as Oil Minister Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa held talks with Petronas general manager in Bahrain Rosely Yuni on bilateral cooperation following the visit to Malaysia by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in November last year.
Present were Ministry Under-Secretary Mohammed Saleh Al Shaikh Ali, Assistant Under-Secretary for Oil Affairs Rashid Al Dubaib, Assistant Under-Secretary for Planning and Studies Ahmed Al Shirayan and other officials.
