Iran to raise oil production capacity
Iran's Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari says the country will boost its oil production to 5.3 mm bpd by the end of
2010.
"Iran currently produces 4.35 mm barrels of oil per day but the Oil Ministry intends to reach 5.3 mm bpd by the end
of the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan (2005-2010)," Nozari told.
Nozari added that Iran presently produces 500 mm cm of gas and more than 400,000 barrels of gas condensates per
day.
The minister said that Iran has plans on its agenda to export gas to different countries, adding Iran and Switzerland
have finalized a gas export deal.
State-run National Iranian Gas Export Company signed a major agreement with Switzerland's Elektrizitaetsgesellschaft
Laufenburg (EGL) in March 2008 for export of Iran's natural gas to the Swiss company.
According to the $ 22-bn contract, Iran's state gas firm will supply 5.5 bn cm of gas annually from 2011 through
Turkey during the next 25 years.
