Iranian and Russian officials have agreed to cooperate in the oil and gas sectors.
Russia's Energy Minister Igor Yusufov and Iranian official Mohammad Forouzandeh signed a protocol in Moscow to work more closely in the energy sector.
The agreement is expected include building energy plants, oil and gas exploration and production. The two are also reported to have discussed working together in areas such as repair and renovation of energy generating facilities, drilling for oil and gas, laying oil and gas pipelines and other issues related to power plant construction and operation.
Forouzandeh is expected to meet other Russian officials including the head of Russia's Gazprom.

Meanwhile, Russia is also planning to play a greater part in a tender to expand one of Iran's major thermal power plants in Isfahan.
A proposal has already been delivered to the Iranian government.
