New power unit planned for Argentina

Central Puerto wants to reinforce its presence in the Argentinean power generating sector and is to invest $180 mm to set up a new 382 MW combined thermal plant at Buenos Aires. The unit will be erected within 24 months, with completion scheduled by end 1998. Funding will be 70% from the Eximbank, and associated constructors included General Electric Power System hired to deliver a turn key plant, and Techint engaged in civil construction works.
