World Bank grants $ 6.8 mm for Uruguayan energy program

The World Bank is to make a donation of $ 6.8 mm from the World Environmental Fund to the Uruguayan government fund the six years program for the rationalization of energy, which is estimated at $ 14.2 mm and has contributions from the government, UTE, and other companies.
The goal is to reduce the dependence from imported fuel for power generating, improve air quality, and slash energy costs. Companies would be granted credits of $ 4.5 mm to implement cost effectiveness energy projects, while UTE alone is to invest $ 6 mm in energy projects.
