Venezuela to open bidding for Tomoporo field

Venezuela's Energy and Mines Ministry has instructed state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela, or PdVSA, to organize an international bidding round for the Tomoporo field in the west of the country.
Government officials have said the field could produce as much as 250,000 bpd within five years.

According to the sources cited in the report, the field has the potential to produce a maximum of 300,000-400,000 bpd.
International oil firms interested in the tender include Repsol-YPF, TotalFinaElf, Statoil, ExxonMobil and ChevronTexaco.
