Iran and Mexico establish energy ties

Iran and Mexico are planning to set up a joint committee on injecting of nitrogen gas into Iranian oil reserves, an official said.
Head of Research and Development Centre of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Ali Emadi, said Mexico has a successful experience in the field and Iran is interested in working with it in the sector energy.

According to him, on the sidelines of the meeting of world's national oil companies' directors in China, Iranian officials held talks with their Mexican counterparts on the possibility of forming the joint energy committee. Meanwhile, around 100 oil projects undertaken by NIOC will come on stream in February.
Head of NIOC Commercial Department Abdolmohammad Delparish said a taskforce has been set up for supervising the implementation of the projects at the Presidential Office.

On the development of Farsi offshore block, he said India's ONGC, the contractor of the project, has completed the exploitation projects and NIOC is preparing for the next phase.
According to him, ONGC will soon be able to develop gas blocks with NIOC approving the commercial viability report prepared by ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) and its consortium partners on the discovery made in the Farsi offshore block.
