Peru's temporary generation concessions reach 21.5 GW

Peru's energy and mines ministry has awarded 102 temporary concessions for generation projects that total 21.3-21.5 GW. Of the total, 63 are wind (10.1 GW), 37 are hydro (10.1 GW) and two are thermo (1.1-1.24 GW), according to the latest data from the ministry's power concessions department.
The wind projects range from 40 MW-300 MW and the hydro from 6.4 MW-1.5 GW. The wind developers are Norwind, Huayra Kallpa, Energia Eolica, Gaz & L'Energie, Generalima, Iberoperuana Inversiones, Inversiones Troy, Petrolera Monterrico, Peru Energia Renovable, Soleol and Sowitec Energias Renovables de Peru.

The hydroelectric concessions are held by Aruntani, Aguas y Energia Peru, Campania Energetica del Centro, Campania Energetica Veracruz, Campania Minera Caudalosa, Campania Minera Poderosa, Chancadora Centauro, Edegel, Electropampas, Empresa de Generacion Electrica de Arequipa, Empresa de Generacion Electrica Cheves, Energia Azul, Empresa de Generacion Electrica Amazonas Sur, Gepsa, Geofun, Consorcio Energetico de Huancavelica, Iquitos Hepp, Electro Oriente, Acres Investments, Empresa Electrica Sutti, Empresa de Generacion Electrica San Gaban, Electroandes, Kallpa Generacion, Ocona Hydro, Paquitzapango Energia, RC Hydro, Swiss Hydro, V de V & Asociados and Villena Carpio, Richard A.
And Holek Energia and Lennox Energetica are behind the thermo projects.

Temporary transmission concessions have also been awarded and are under study by Abengoa Peru, Quitaracsa and Trevali Peru.
The generation and transmission projects' studies are due to be completed by 2011.
