Petrobras' imports not registered

Feb 18, 1997 01:00 AM

Feb. 8, 1997 Brazil's Petrobras has not registered all of its Jan '97 oil imports to the Siscomex foreign trade control computer system. The imports are valued at $ 650 mm, but only $ 61.4 mm were registered to Siscomex and refer to Petrobras' equipment imports over the last 7 days of Jan '97. Over the past 8 months, the company's average monthly imports reached $ 562 mm. Its oil imports were raised during last month due to the stoppage of its Sao Jose dos Campos-based refinery (Sao Paulo), which had new equipment installed and the old ones set up. The refinery is responsible for 15% of the domestic oil consumption and 45% of the diesel oil supply.
