Suriname's state oil company Staatsolie has declared its latest E&P round for nearshore blocks void, a company E&P division official told.
Staatsolie had launched the round in November for blocks 43 and 44, which cover 2,585 sq km and 5,204 sq km respectively. Winning bids were to have been selected this month and contracts signed by early August.

The round did not attract the interest the company had expected, the official said. A decision has yet to be made whether a new round for the blocks and/or different areas will be launched, said the official, adding Staatsolie may wait until the global economy improves.
Companies active in Suriname include Repsol-YPF, Noble Energy, Petro Hunt, Inpex, Murphy Oil and Paradise Oil. According to the official, E&P work underway by these companies continues to advance as normal.
