Petrobras reports on oil production
Brazil's government-run oil company Petroleo Brasileiro, or Petrobras, produced 2.061 mm barrels of oil equivalent
(oil and natural gas) per day in January, 4.1 % more than in the same month last year, the company said.
Compared with December, Petrobras's production in January was stable.
Petrobras attributed the rise in output to the start of operations at fields ESP-10 and BG-016. The company also
cited the improved operating performance of its P-40 platform.
Domestic oil production stood at 1.532 mm bpd last month, only 0.3 % above December levels but 4.1 % higher than in
January 2004.
Local gas production, meanwhile, was 42.6 mm cmpd in January, down 1.9 % from December and 4.3 % higher than in the
first month of last year.
Overseas, oil equivalent production reached 260,699 bpd in January, unchanged from December but 3.1 % above
year-earlier levels.
