Bolivia to double exports of gas to Brazil

Bolivia is intending to double its exports of natural gas aiming to reduce the Brazilian electric power crisis. The country plans the construction of a second gas pipeline as the chairman of Petrobras in Bolivia Decio Odonne said the company intends to acquire other 10 mm cm of daily as of 2004.

Bolivia currently exports between 9 and 10 bn cm of gas to Brazil through the pipeline linking the country to Brazil. This volume may reach 30 cm by 2005. The Brazil-Bolivia pipeline has 3,150 km and demanded $ 2 bn investment.
