Shell and Petrobras sign LNG supply agreement

Petrobras and Shell have signed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement to furnish the Pecem (Ceara) and Baia de Guanabara (Rio de Janeiro) regasification terminals.
The agreement foresees firm LNG delivery. Petrobras will define, load-by-load, which terminal the LNG will be delivered to.

This agreement, the implementation of which depends on technical safety inspections being carried out at the terminals, attends to part of Petrobras’s imports capacity and will compose, together with the other agreements under negotiation and with the Master Sales and Purchase Agreements (MSAs) that have already been signed, an agreement portfolio that will provision the natural gas supply needs for thermoelectric power generation in Brazil.
“To Petrobras, this partnership with Shell is very important. This agreement also shows the efforts Petrobras has undertaken to acquire firm LNG loads to complement Brazil’s demand for natural gas,” said Petrobras’ Director for Gas & Energy, Maria das Gracas Silva Foster.
