Mexican crude output increased 5.7 % in 1997

In Mexico, the output of crude petroleum in 1997 increased by 5.7 % to 3,022,000 bpd , of which 1,721,000 barrels (57 %) went to export, reported the Pemex. The United States absorbs 78 % of those exports, Europe 10 %, Latin America 8 %, Asia 3 % and Africa 1 %. Since the beginning of the decade Mexican crude production has only increased by 18 %, but exports have risen by 31 %, which means that exports have taken a constantly rising share of total production.
