Iberdrola Renewables partners with US government
The US Department of Energy has announced a partnership with Spanish firm Iberdrola Renewables.
Iberdrola will work with the Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to develop the first of
several solar resource measuring stations. The station in Arizona is the first of many planned instrumentation
stations across the United States.
The development is part of NREL's Solar Resource and Meteorological Assessment Project (SOLRMAP). The goal of SOLRMAP
is to collect more long-term solar resource data to reduce the risk and cost of commercial solar projects.
NREL will compile its data on solar resources with existing regional resources.
