ExxonMobil updates Pegasus Pipeline
ExxonMobil announced it finished improvements to its Pegasus Pipeline to increase crude shipments from oil sand
deposits in Canada to the US gulf coast.
Mobil Pipe Line Co., an affiliate of ExxonMobil, said it increased the capacity of the 858-mile Pegasus Pipeline by
50 %, or roughly 30,000 bpd.
Flow was reversed on the pipeline in 2006 following a lack of demand for shipments of crude. The increase will bring
crude oil from Canada to refineries in Texas and Louisiana. Several pump stations along the route of the pipeline
will be enhanced or reactivated as part of the project.
"The expansion of the Pegasus Pipeline is another example of how ExxonMobil Pipeline Company is continuing to develop
new projects that provide valued services and enhance supply security," said Gary Pruessing, president, ExxonMobil
Pipeline.
