Komi republic expects oil output to rise

The Komi republic plans to extract about 9.8 mm tons of oil in 2001, said Anatoly Gubarev, deputy minister of the local coal, oil and gas industry. According to Gubarev, nearly 8.18 mm tons of oil will be extracted in the Komi republic in 2000, a 6 % rise from last year.
More than 65,000 running meters of wells have been drilled in the Komi republic since the beginning of 2000, 32,000 meters more than in 1999, reported the Komi Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
