Gazprom eying French markets
Russia's natural gas giant Gazprom is looking at becoming an energy carrier to France, Gazprom head Alexei Miller
told.
"We seek to become suppliers of energy carriers to France," he told. He stressed Gazprom was interested in the
entrepreneurial aspects of the French market.
"The establishment of direct trade relations with local businessmen provides the best guarantees of the safety of
deliveries," he said.
Gazprom holds only a 1 % market share in the French gas sector, but the company "intends to consolidate its
positions" in the gas and electric sector, a report said.
Miller said Gazprom produced 7 bn cf of gas in first four months of 2008 and expects to boost total production by 20
tn tons by 2010.
