Oil and gas companies to group efforts to develop Yamal fields

A consortium of oil and gas producing companies is being formed to implement a huge-scale project: To develop the gas fields of the Yamal peninsula. In the opinion of Yuri Neyelov, Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District (YNAD), even the powerful Gazprom is unable to accomplish such a task by acting alone.
"Even Gazprom so far lacks its own funds and resources to develop the Bovanensky, Novoportovsky, and Kharasavei gas deposits," Neyelov told.

Great tasks have been set: To bring gas production on the Peninsula up to 530,000 mm cm of gas a year. The first step to create a pool of companies has already been made, the Governor believes.
"A Gazprom-Rosneft alliance has been forged. The LUKoil and Sibneft companies are also prepared to join it. The YNAD administration intends to render support to all the gas- and oil-industry workers and builders: There will be enough work for everyone," Neyelov said.
