Israeli-Russian oil pipeline offers new opportunities
A newly revamped Israeli pipeline allows Russia and Caspian countries to transport more crude to Asia. The pipeline
is a very special construction as it can be used in both directions.
The pipeline is 254 km long and connects the Mediterranean port of Ashkelon with the Red Sea terminal at Eilat.
Currently it can handle 400,000 bpd.
As transportation costs through the pipeline are cheaper than crude shipping through the Suez Canal, it offers the opportunity for Russian companies to increase their market share in Asia.
