Yukos to boost output via increased drilling and commissioning idle wells

In 2000, Yukos plans to obtain an extra 3 mm tons of oil by increasing drilling and commissioning idle wells, the company press service announced. Volumes of development drilling will be increased to 700,000 meters to bring into commission 242 new wells. In addition, Yukos plans to bring 905 idle wells into operation.

According to a Yukos representative, the company plans to double oil extraction in 2000, compared to 1999. Thus, gelling technology for boosting crude yield is expected to give more than 1.1 mm tons of oil this year, while oil extraction intensification projects will account for another 1 mm tons and hydrofrac operations are to give more than 100,000 tons of crude. By increasing development drilling, Yukos hopes to get an additional 780,000 tons of oil.
At least 170,000 tons of oil is to be extracted from the Western Malobalykskoye deposit in 2000, said a Yukos press service representative. According to the representative, development drilling at the deposit is expected to reach 47,200 meters so as to make 15 new wells operative. The existing wells are to yield about 97,000 tons of crude, while the new wells will give about 73,000 tons.
