Kazakhstan to supply Ukraine with gas

In 2003, Ukraine will purchase 1.5 bn to 2 bn cm of Kazakhstani natural gas, Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Sergey Yermilov reported.
The parties are also working out a joint government agreement on future supplies of "fairly sizeable volumes" of Kazakhstani gas onto the Ukrainian market, Kazakhstani Energy Minister Vladimir Shkolnik said, in his turn, following the fifth meeting of the joint Ukrainian-Kazakhstani commission on economic cooperation.

Shkolnik said that the agreement was expected to eliminate tax barriers that might hamper such a huge project.
Yermilov added that no joint government agreement was needed for carrying out the mentioned gas supplies in 2003 however
