Ukraine is considering taking part in the construction of a Norway-Eastern European natural gas pipeline in order to become less dependent on Russia by establishing new gas sources. According to Ukraine, national oil and gas company NaftoGaz Ukrainy, Norway and Poland are currently in discussions regarding the pipeline which will transport around 10 bn cm of gas each year. Poland is expecting to consume around half of this amount of Norwegian gas each year.
Ivan Dyak, a parliament member and adviser to the head of NaftoGaz Ukrainy, has reportedly said that Ukraine is considering joining the alliance with Norway and Poland. Ukraine is involved in disputes with Moscow over exactly how much it owes for Russian gas, which it depends on for most of its gas needs. The two countries are also discussing whether Russia will divert its gas transport business through other countries.

This pipeline is of interest to the Ukraine as it is considering purchasing Norwegian gas for domestic use in it westernregion, and it would also be able to transport more gas to other European countries.
