The year 2004 has been considered the most successful year for British Petroleum (BP) Vietnam since it started operating in the country in 1989.
The Nam Con Son Gas Project run by the company brought ashore 2.5 bn cm of gas, 90 % higher than its initial target. During the year, the Phu My 3 Power Plant, in which BP holds a 33.33-% stake, began its commercial operation, helping to increase the country’s total electricity output by 10 %.

BP, which currently leads in both upstream (gas exploitation) and downstream (lubricant refinement and distribution) investment in Vietnam, planned to raise the gas output of the Nam Con Son project by 30 % to 3.2 bn cm in 2005.
It will strive to increase the production capacity of the Dinh Co Gas Processing Plant in order to meet the growing demand.
