Work has begun in China on a pipeline to transport Turkmenian gas to energy-starved Hong Kong.
The 29 km undersea pipeline will carry gas between Shenzhen, China, and Hong Kong.

Turkmenistan is expected to ship up to 65 bn cm of gas to China yearly by 2015. The country began supplying gas to southern China in November, with deliveries to Hong Kong expected to start by the end of 2012.
Meanwhile, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry hosted a Chinese delegation headed by International Department official Jiang Naichen. They discussed political, economic and global energy security issues.
