Vietnam to invest in Long Phu Electricity Centre

The construction of the Long Phu Electricity Centre will commence at Long Duc commune, Long Phu district, Soc Trang province on May 10, the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam) has announced.
The centre with an expected capacity of 4,400 MW will include three thermo-electric power plants: the Long Phu 1 Thermo-Electric Power Plant with a capacity of 1,200 MW, the Long Phu 2 Thermo-Electric Power Plant with a capacity of 1,200 MW and the Long Phu 3 Thermo-Electric Power Plant with a capacity of 2,000 MW, and other auxiliary works.

The construction of the Long Phu 1 Thermo-Electric Power Plant invested by the PetroVietnam with an investment of around $ 1.4 bn is planned to commence in 2010.
The Long Phu Electricity Centre will be built on the total area of around 409 hectares.
