Pakistan's Secretary of Petroleum Abdullah Yousaf said that there is a need to start oil and gas exploration in Baluchistan Province to meet the increasing demand of hydrocarbon in the country.
Addressing the swearing in of newly elected state-owned Oil and Gas Development Company officers, he said such exploration activities will provide economic growth for the province and help in meeting Pakistan's domestic demand of 3.1 bn cfpd of gas.

To encourage exploration for oil and gas in Baluchistan, Yousaf said that the government would facilitate local and foreign investment in such projects and that it would reduce red-tape and improve regulations.
He added that there are now 25 companies, including four local enterprises, engaged in oil and gas exploration and production in Pakistan.
