Pakistan says it is ready to extend 'reasonable assurance' to Iran for the safety of the proposed Iran-India gas pipeline, as it has to pass through its territory. "The working groups of Iran and Pakistan are in constant touch with each other and we have assured Iranian authorities for the safety of gas pipeline that will have to pass through the Pakistan's territory," Jehangir Bashr, spokesman of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources said.
Bashr said that India had not made any formal representations to Pakistan. "There is also a proposal to get the spur from the main pipeline for Pakistan just to assure both the India and Iran that Pakistan will also suffer if the supply of gas is cut off," he said.
