Russia 48th in World Competitiveness Rating

May 31, 2012 12:00 AM

Russia has climbed one position, to 48th place, in the 2012 World Competitiveness Rankings, published by the Institute of Management Development (IMD).
"Russia has improved its position to 48th compared with 49th last year. It seems to be good news as we feel stability," Moscow Business School President, Grigoriy Bubnov, told.

Hong Kong, the US and Switzerland were most competitive of the 59 ranked economies in 2012, according to the report.
"Emerging economies are not yet immune to [economic] turmoil elsewhere. China (23), India (35) and Brazil (46) have all slipped in the rankings, while Russia (48) climbed only one place," the IMD said in its report.

Bubnov said that the core value of the research is its basis for making decisions and conclusions, as well as providing detailed analysis.
The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook has been publishing since 1989. It includes 59 countries which are evaluated under 329 criteria. The WCY rankings measure how well countries manage their economic and human resources to increase prosperity.
