Output of China's light industry up by 18.2% in 2012

Mar 04, 2013 12:00 AM

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced that output of the country's light industry jumped by 18.2 percent last year to USD2.87 trillion, reported Xinhua News.

The commission added that exports of major firms in light industry grew by 13.72 percent from 2011 to USD 507.51 billion.

In the mean time, profits of major companies increased by 19.6 percent on annual basis, reaching USD 174 billion.

It is worth noting that the growth in total output, export volume and total profits was attributed in part to robust demand from China's consumer goods sectors, mainly agricultural product processing, food manufacturing and the beverage sectors.
