Sudan, Russia sign biggest economic protocol

Presidential Assistant, Ibrahim Ghandour who recently received the Russian minister of Natural Resources and Environment accompanied by the Sudanese Minister of Minerals Ahmed Sadiq Al-Karori, expressed appreciation of Sudanese-Russian relations, referring to Russian recent strategic economic partnership with Sudan.

Ghandour disclosed that cooperation with Russia in sectors of mining, industry and agriculture will witness a big leap over the coming period.

In this connection, he directed formation of a high committee chaired by him, comprising ministers of foreign affairs, cooperation, mining and parliament.

In a related development, deputy parliament speaker welcomed the convening of the joint ministerial committee in Khartoum which coincided with reshuffle of cabinet to improve performance.

In his turn, Petroleum Minister, Makkawi Mohamed Awad commended Russian oil companies' investment in Sudan's oil exploration works. The minister reaffirmed that agreement with Russian companies by his predecessor, Dr. Awad Al-Jaz, will be signed after finalization of technical consultations.

For his part, the Russian minister promised to facilitate Russian oil companies drilling and gas production by providing them with required technical assistance.

Petroleum ministry undersecretary said oil agreements with Russian investors were designed in a highly professional manner, all incorporated in one package.

It is worth-mentioning that the last ministerial session scheduled for today will witness the signing of the biggest Sudanese- Russian economic protocol.
