Iran's non-oil foreign trade hits $28bn

Iran's non-oil trade in the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-July 21) has amounted to $27.84 billion.

During the period, the country exported $14.015 billion worth of goods and imported worth $13.822, Iranian Customs Administration reported July 26.

The trade balance was positive, whereas imports and exports decreased by 20.17 and 15.2 percent respectively compared to those of the same period last year.

The volume of imported goods stood at 11.392 million metric tons, meanwhile exports amounted for 32.442 million metric tons in terms of volume during the 4-month period.

The exported goods were mainly raw material. Nonetheless, while gas condensates export lowered by 39.39 percent, other goods export decreased by 6.62 percent in terms of value year on year.

Petroleum gases and liquefied gas hydrocarbons worth $675 million and a value share of 6.3 percent, liquefied propane worth $540 million and a value share of 4.99 percent, and bitumen worth $480 million and a value share of 4.44 percent were the main exported goods.

China was the biggest importer of Iranian goods. The country bought 7.912 million metric tons of Iranian goods worth $2.562 billion. After China stood Iraq, whose imports from Iran grew by four percent to hit $1.997 billion.

The UAE imported $1.683 billion worth of goods from Iran with a 34 percent growth year on year. The country ranked third among top importers of Iranian goods.

India came fourth. It imported $913 million worth of goods from Tehran, indicating 33 percent increase.

Afghanistan was the fifth biggest importer from Iran with $811 million.

Meanwhile China ($3.518 billion worth of exports, nine percent less y/y), the UAE ($3.038 billion worth of exports, 32 percent yearly decrease), South Korea ($1.265 billion), Turkey ($1.056 billion) and India ($843 million) were the leading exporters of goods to Iran.

The most important imported goods by Iran were: livestock corn worth $430 million, rice worth $302 million, soybean meal worth $297 million and mechanical equipment worth $271 million.

Iran also imported $264 million worth of car parts in the 4-month period.
